Technology will help us get results

Our study will use the latest gadgets and smartphones to provide the real-life, real-time metrics required to change the game. Take a look at a few of the innovative ways technology will play an important role:

Electronic Study Visits

We've made participating easier by allowing you to complete all information and follow-up on our secure website — from your computer, tablet, or smartphone. Data collection is easy and doesn't require you to come in to the study center. You can track visits, information, and activities you have to do, and what you've already completed. We'll even remind you when you're due for your next visit, which you can do at home relaxing or out and about running errands.

Sensors

Some participants will wear special sensors to monitor heart health. The sensors will link up to your smartphone to gather data on blood pressure, heart rate, ECG (an electronic representation of your heart's electrical activity), sleep, arrhythmias, activity, and more — on the go or from the comfort of your own home.

Mobile Apps

If you have a smartphone, you can download free apps to take surveys, get real-life measurements, track behaviors, send us medical information, receive reminders, invite people to the study, and more. So, whether you're standing in line at the grocery store or on a quick coffee break, you'll be able to update your information and participate.

Social Media

For the first time in a major heart study, you'll be able to invite people to the study through social media (such as Facebook or Twitter). We've made it easy to ask friends and family to join the effort and, if you want, eventually you will be able to post information about the study and let people know how you're helping to cure heart disease. Plus, we may just learn how interactions with social media affect heart disease.
